baby boy...

For a while now, I have been noticing something about my baby boy... He is not longer a baby. He is this little boy. Such a bittersweet moment. I just can't believe it.

He talks a lot and communicates with me. He asks for hugs which is the sweetest thing ever!
He lets me know when he wants food or water...

And he is so much like my dad, which they share a name - baby boy has my dad's name as a middle name. And they have very similar personalities. Baby boy loves people. He goes up to whoever I am talking to and just hugs and loves on them. It's sweet but I am so afraid he is going to end up trusting everyone. Which is a good character trait, but also can lead to a world of hurt.

Either way, baby boy is growing up to be an amazing little boy. I love watching him develop into his own little person.

Little Artists

I've been taking time in the evenings to color with my boys or do some sort of fun activity.
The other night the boys and I colored. It was so much fun!

I enjoy watching little man use his imagination and love looking at his drawings...

Here is his car - he said it's a Nissan
This is his race car and 2 planes... The bottom 2 are supposed to be planes - we'll work on it. lol

Monday Madness! R46 Revolution

The other day I went to a store and found some good deals on summer clothes for baby boy. Now, usually when I buy something for one kid, I like to buy it for the other as well. BUT I didn't find a thing for little man at that store... So I went home empty handed for him. Well, when he saw one of the items I bought for baby boy, he got sad. I had gotten a pirate ship romper for baby boy. When little man saw it he asked for a pirate ship shirt. When I told him I didn't find one for him, he got so sad. It broke my heart. So I went on an Etsy search for the perfect pirate ship shirt. And guess what? I found it! R46 Revolution is the perfect store for little boys! I fell in love with all the shirts!

I got a pirate ship shirt and a train shirt. The shirts are gorgeous and so well made!
When I got them in the mail, little man saw them and his eyes lit up. He asked if they were his and when I said yes, his face was priceless! He says,"mommy, I need to give you a hug and kiss!" Totally melted my heart! I have never seen a boy so excited about shirts. :) Then he kept asking me if he could wear both of them. :)

Needless to say, I score some major mommy points! Go check out R46 Revolution and look at their awesome shirts!

Eating Healthy

Hubby and I have decided to take our health a little more serious. I mean, lets face it, we're not getting any younger... sigh... So for dinner the other night, I made a salad that was so delicious. I was impressed. I got the recipe from a friend. My sister made it for my mom and then I tried it.

I even gave up my ranch dressing and tried Kraft's Light Parmesan Asiago Balsemic Vinegar dressing. It was delicious! I took chicken breast and seasoned it really well and baked it in the oven. It was the perfect dinner. And it felt so good eating healthy.

Here's the recipe for the salad:

4 cups fresh baby spinach
1 can (15 ounces) black beans, rinsed and drained
1 cup chopped sweet yellow pepper (I used red pepper)
2 medium tomatoes, cut into wedges
1 cup shredded zucchini (I used carrots)
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup chopped walnuts, toasted (I used cashews)
Salad dressing of your choice

Directions
In a large salad bowl, combine the spinach, beans and pepper. Top with tomatoes and zucchini; sprinkle with cheese and walnuts. Serve with salad dressing. Yield: 4 servings.

Sunday School

Hubby and I work in our church's Sunday School department - we teach 5 year olds. I love it! I've always enjoyed working in the preschool department and am sure glad hubby joined me this year.

One of the things we always work on is the board outside the door. We try to do it for every holiday. Hubby and I are both pretty creative and we always come up with cute ideas. This is our board for Valentine's Day! Isn't it cute?

Last week we had the kids make little stick figures. Well, hubby and I were not satisfied with it so we took the liberty of being creative. It was so cute to see my big ol' hubby sitting on those little wooden chairs drawing out ties and cutting them out. So he was in charge of helping the boys make boys. What do you think?

And then I made the girls. It was so much fun! Of course we had yellow yarn for the blonde girls too. The kids loved this project!

I've always loved serving in the pre-school ministry and feel that's where I am supposed to be.

Detour in Plans

As many of you guys know, I am a planner. I like to keep things on my schedule. I am extremely busy and unfortunately I live by the clock. I am trying to get better at that but I can't help it. Between working 40 hours a week, cleaning, cooking, laundry, driving to and from school, and more, I just am always on the go. I suppose that is the life of a mommy....

Anyway, on Thursday I worked about 10 hours and managed to do most of my laundry and clean the whole house. I even switched sheets in the boys beds and cleaned their rooms. I was exhausted and totally worn out. BUT I did all that so we could have family time on Saturday... Well, that all went down the tubes when I got a call Friday from the in laws inviting us over to breakfast. So we went... I figured, we'd eat and then go on about our business so I can get some stuff done. I had my whole day planned out...

It all changed when little man started feeling very sick, he was not himself... When we got to my in laws house, he came to sit on me and I knew it - he had a fever. He was so miserable. So needless to say, we ate, well, he didn't. And then we came home. He slept most of the day on me. It was great to just stop and enjoy my little boy. So nothing I wanted to get done this weekend got done. BUT I got to spend time with my son and take care of him.

I am now trying to tell myself that it's ok if dishes don't get done, or laundry sits in the hamper. Life will go on... And I need to put my family first!

That's one of little man's favorite places to go because of Play House Disney. When we discussed going there, hubby asked me to find a Jake and The Never Land Pirate shirts for the boys.
